Celtic capture Milan's Donati
Saturday 23 June 2007Celtic FC have acquired the services of AC Milan midfielder Massimo Donati, who has signed a four-year contract with the Scottish champions thought to be worth €4.5m, subject to a medical.
Loan spells
The 26-year-old midfielder, who will undergo a physical examination in Glasgow early next week, moved to the San Siro for €14.9m from Atalanta BC in 2001 but made only 17 Serie A appearances, eleven of which came as a substitute, in his first season with the Rossoneri. Loan spells with Parma FC, Torino FC, UC Sampdoria and FC Messina Peloro - where he spent two seasons - followed before he rejoined Atalanta on loan for 2006/07, playing 32 times as the club finished eighth.
'Real quality'
Donati becomes Gordon Strachan's fourth signing of the close season, following Scott Brown, Scott McDonald and Chris Killen to Celtic Park. "We are delighted that Massimo has signed for the club," said a Celtic spokesperson said. "He is a player of real quality and we're sure he will be a great addition to our squad."
