Arlette was born in the beautiful island of Trinidad. She started singing in her church choir as a child and continued into her teen years, eventually starting her own singing group which performed at various talent shows, and social events. But Arlette has always been a strong believer in the importance of education, coming from a family in which both parents are teachers.  She applied to Long Island University in New York, where she was accepted and awarded a full scholarship based on her SAT scores. Arlette said goodbye to family and friends and headed for the Big Apple.

While studying for her Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Arlette auditioned and was accepted as lead singer in a wedding band and began singing at parties, weddings and clubs throughout New York. One day, she received a phone call  from a young musician from Italy, Luigi, who heard her perform and was interested in working with her. They started performing together as a duo  in 1995, and a week after Arlette's graduation in 1996, she and Luigi were married. She then made the decision to change the course of her life and devote her full attention to her musical career.
