Great service, great food

We went to Red Gravy for lunch. Very tasty Bloody Mary! My husband had the Polpetta omelet. I had a bowl of cauliflower soup and a grilled cheese & tomato sandwich. Amazeballs food. The wife and I stopped here before taking a bike tour of the city (Buzz Nola is just down the street) and only wish we had more time to enjoy the meal since we were a little rushed. I had the bbq shrimp and grits and the wife had some meatball thing. Everything was awesome. Oh, I also... More

Red Gravy advertises that it is one of the top brunch locations in the US. Not sure who made the list however it is very good. My family and I had a great meal with one exception - hence the title. Several members of the party ordered the lasagna - we were told it would take "a few extra minutes"... More

Thank you so much for taking time to share your experience and I am so pleased you enjoyed your meal. I am so very sorry that it took so long for your meal. I have no excuse other than the kitchen falling behind and dropping the ball. Indeed, the lasagna does take extra time as we roll the pasta dough... More

We had a good lunch at Red Gravy, but disappointed by portion size and price. The homemade pasta was delicious, with red sauce that was very good, just a little on the sweet side. The homemade meatball was also delicious, but was priced by itself. For the price of the one meatball, we can get two meatballs the same size,... More

Try anything with a meatball in it. I'll be telling everyone I know about this place! My husband had Ro's breakfast, I had the Polpetta. We both enjoyed a New Orleans sunrise with our meals. We only regret that this place is a 4 hour flight from home.

I try to branch out and try new restaurants when I come to NOLA. I had seen the menu for Red Gravy and was intrigued. I was a little annoyed by the fact that you have to hold your reservation with a credit card. I don't mind doing this for a high end establishment but this place is far from... More

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your meal. We use credit cards to hold reservations, yes. Having just 15 tables, a no show reservation is detrimental to our seating process. Indeed, sometimes there are multiple tables available, but I cannot predict that, nor can the system pick and choose when a card will be necessary. There are no televisions anywhere in... More

We took our Boys to celebrate New Year’s in New Orleans. I had a hard time finding anywhere to make reservations on this busy holiday weekend, and I had given up even trying by Sunday morning. It was just happenstance that my son saw their sign and remembered I had mentioned the name as being well rated on TripAdvisor. Even... More

I recently booked a reservation at this restaurant and had to cancel the reservations 30 minutes later. The manager told me that they did not allow cancelations but she would check with the owner and have her call me to let me know if that was possible. I did receive her call and she immediately began to berate me for... More

I see you write fiction for a living? I actually called to tell you that I wasn't going to charge your account even though the policy was clearly outlined when you made the online reservation for a weekend brunch. Perhaps if you hadn't threatened me or my server the entire matter would have ended easier. It's not nice to make... More

We were asked to wait outside on what as a pretty chilly NO day, with two little ones. The wait was not comfortable but was shorter than expected, though we did see others wait longer. it is a small place with not much room for lingering so I understand the reasoning. Our waitress was nice, though she seemed a bit... More

Right around the corner from Canal Street and the street cars. Great story about the start of this restaurant--delicious foods, good portions. Only open for breakfast and lunch; believe close at 2 pm. Nice atmosphere and good service.

Staying in Central Business District

Neighborhood Profile
Central Business District
Compared to the more evocative monikers of some other parts of New Orleans, the downtown’s humdrum title might suggest that this area is all about business and little else. But don’t let the bland name keep you away from the Central Business District. The CBD offers a wide range of fun things to do that would be touted as exceptional in less jubilant corners of the world. Bordered by the French Quarter, the Arts District and Tremé, with the river at its eastern extreme, this hub for sports, gaming, shopping, theatre, family-friendly activities, and amazing regional cuisine makes a smart base wherever your interests lie.
