Re-establishing the Khilafah is the Most Important Obligation upon the Ummah and a Vital Issue

30 June, 2014

Hizb ut Tahrir organized Public Talks outside several mosques in Dhaka, Sylhet and Chittagong after Jummah prayers today in commemoration of the destruction of the Khilafah on 28th Rajab 1342AH (24th March, 1924) by Mustafa Kamal, may Allah (swt) punish him in Hell for eternity. The speakers at the talks reminded the Muslims of their duty to re-establish the Khilafah state. They said the Khilafah is the state which is the true leadership of the Muslims. It rules them by the Qur’an and the Sunnah in which we find the best solutions for treating the problems of the Ummah. And it is the protector of the Muslims from the aggression of their enemies.
The speakers said re-establishing the Khilafah is the most important obligation upon the Muslims and any negligence or slackness in fulfilling this obligation is a great sin. RasulAllah (saw) said,

“And whoever dies without having an oath of allegiance (Bay’ah) on his neck he would die the death of Jahiliyyah." (Sahih Muslim)

The Sahabah (ra) agreed upon this as the most important obligation after the death of RasulAllah (saw), where they engaged themselves in appointing the Khaleefah though it is known that the burial of the dead person is obligatory. The Sahabah that were obliged to engage in preparing the burial of the RasulAllah (saw) engaged themselves in appointing a Khaleefah instead. The RasulAllah (saw) passed away on Monday morning and he (saw) remained without burial throughout that day and night.  Only after Abu Bakr (ra) was given the bay’ah as the Khaleefah, then RasulAllah (saw) was buried, on Tuesday night. This means the burial was delayed two nights, and Abu Bakr (ra) was given the bay’ah before the burial of RasulAllah (saw). This could not have been legitimate unless the appointment of a Khaleefah was more obligatory than the burial of the dead person; moreover it was delaying the burial of RasulAllah (saw) himself. Furthermore, the Sahabah (ra) did not execute the orders of the RasulAllah (saw) which he commanded before his death until the appointment of the Khaleefah was completed.
The speakers ended their speech by calling upon the Muslims rush to fulfil this most important Islamic obligation by treating it as a vital issue i.e. a matter of life and death. This is what Islam commanded and how RasulAllah (saw) viewed it when he said,

“By Allah, if they put the sun in my right hand and the moon in my left hand so that I leave this matter, I will not leave it until Allah makes it prevail or I perish.”
