 February is Black History Month

We take the time to feature the important role African Americans have had in helping to create and define our nation.

The library prominently displays nearly 100 books related to black history, which encourages students to take them home. Additionally, Mrs. Hennes reads and discusses a related story or biography to every class.

Friday Flag will feature famous quotes and/or music by African Americans at the first and last Flag Assembly of the month.

The activities in classrooms vary, but include a focus on biographies of influential African Americans:  Martin Luther King Jr., Ruby Ridges, Sidney Poitier, and Harriet Tubman.  Teachers have access to a number of engaging resources on Black History and look forward to acknowledging the important  contribution of African Americans.  ********************************************************************************

PTA School Dance

Join us at the Creekside Realm of Respect themed dances. We encourage you and your child to dress with Royal Respect which would include, but not limited to crowns, king’s robe, royal scepter, tiaras, Disney prince or princess, knight/medieval apparel. Have fun and be creative. Not into costumes?  You can also just wear your favorite dancing outfit.   

Mother/Son Dance - Wednesday, February 10th from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

 Father/Daughter Dance - Thursday, Feb. 11th from 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Come twirl around the dance floor, get your face painted, and enjoy the photo booth with your child and their friends! It's sure to be a great night!  Photos can be purchased at the event for $5.00 each which includes 2 copies.

Before and After School Supervision The playground opens to students in the morning beginning at 8:40 a.m.  No supervision will be provided before this time.  Once students arrive, they may not leave unless a parent or other authorized person comes to the office to sign them out.  To ensure the safety of our children, you will be required to show identification when you pick up your child.  

At the end of the school day, we ask parents/guardians to wait outside the school gates until the bell rings and the gates open.  Students in 1st - 5th Grade will be released from their classroom(Kindergarteners will wait in the classroom with teacher).  Parents/guardians should designate a specific place to meet their child (i.e.: classroom, bus loop, main parking lot, etc.).  Staff will supervise students waiting to be picked up for 20 minutes after the bell rings.  Please arrange with carpools, babysitters, etc. to have students picked up within that time as supervision is not available beyond 20 minutes.

Transitional Kindergarten students: teacher will lead students to the front gate for pick up at 12:20.

Parking Lot Drop Off & Pick Up The “Bus Loop” is the north driveway (closest to the creek) on Springhurst Drive.  You may load and unload in the red curb area behind the bus area.  You will need to turn left when leaving the bus loop.  

The “Main Parking Lot” in front of the school may be used for loading and unloading of passengers along the red curb.  You will need to turn right when leaving the main parking lot. 

Double parking is not allowed for drop off or pick up.  DO NOT leave your car unattended in any red zone at any time.  Park only in marked parking stalls.   

Since many of our families are located very close to Creekside, we hope children will walk to school.  Parents should walk with students and cross only in designated crosswalks.  A gate is located at the southwest corner of the field to provide easy access from the park.  This gate is unlocked at 8:40 a.m. until the school bell rings and again at 3:20 p.m. (1:40 p.m. on Wednesdays) for 20 minutes.
