February 11, 2016

7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Yorktown High School

5200 Yorktown Blvd.

Arlington, Virginia 22207

Free performance and “talkback” about little known historical injustice: the “Radium Girls,” teenage factory workers in the 1920s who were slowly poisoned while painting glow-in-the-dark watches with toxic radium. Told with powerful imagery, music, and dance. The “girls,” growing ill and seeking help, faced corporate greed and lies, a callous legal system, and complete disregard for their health and safety. Underlying it all was contempt for female workers. Despite these obstacles, six “Radium Girls” sued a leading radium company. Sponsored by League of Women Voters-Arlington and AAUW-Arlington. “Talkback” with author Ginny Mohler and Yorktown theater director Carol Cadby and social hour with refreshments.
