Yunus visits FC Barcelona
Nobel Peace Prize winner Muhammad Yunus visited FC Barcelona on Tuesday during his stay in the city as part of the Barcelona Social Business City, an initiative that focuses on reducing social problems by promoting the tertiary sector and business.
FC Barcelona Vice President Jordi Cardoner and Club Director Dídac Lee welcomed Yunus to Camp Nou along with FC Barcelona Foundation patron Ramon Garriga. They congratulated Yunus for his work with the socially excluded and young people.
According to Forbes magazine Professor Yunus is one of the 10 most influential people in the world.
Vice President Cardoner said, “It’s an honour to have Professor Yunus here, a person who has done so much for humanity and who is so sensitive to society’s needs.”
Cardoner also expressed his pride regarding Yunus showing interest in their club.
Muhammad Yunus expressed his excitement in an interview to Barca TV saying, “I am very excited to be here. In Bangladesh everyone is a Barça fan, people know all about the Club and the players.”
Although Yunus admitted not knowing all the names of the players of the club, he said that it was surprising that people in Bangladesh have this kind of passion for the team. He also mentioned that sports played an important role in the lives of youths in Bangladesh.
