They probably both got it from some effects template offered on Fiverr.

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking as well.

Though the iBreathe campaign is only email-verified, so that leaves some room for speculation I guess (it's crazy they allow campaigns demanding that much with email-verification only). Especially since they, once released, would probably be in conflict with the UK e-cigarette retailer of the same name (since they're based in London supposedly).

Why waste money on this when they could have had Tyrone promote their shit? Who could say no to Tyrone?!

You cheeky scrublord

Either that, or the later campaign told the graphics people: Make us something that's just as cool as that intro!

i think this sub is fully in love with the futurefon scam, its comment section is hilarious , they all want to believe that they didnt flush down 799$ and the creators isnt even offering a timeline yet.

the creators moderate the comment section very well, discontents get quickly silenced. I pledged 1$ and put some ironic comments and was rapidly ejected from it.

But yes I imagine many would rather keep up the illusion they haven't been scammed of 800 $ for as long as possible. Amazingly some new people have bought the vapourware lately, so it pays to keep the illusion going for futurefon.

Why can't you renege your payment? If I invest $X and haven't received a final product by a set date, shouldn't I be able to get my money back?

[–]cosmo2k10 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Because you're not buying anything, you're investing.

[–]wardrich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, but I'm not investing in nothing. There should be terms for the person you're investing in.

You can ask for a refund, but you aren't entitled to one until a class action lawsuit is filed.

They did refund me, actually it did automatically. Everytime I tried to redonate to the scheme so as to be able to put comments, I was kicked in seconds, but my money (1$) was refunded.

I suspect they just kick and refund people who donate small donations as they often are whistblowers.

C'mon, they had to change their engineering team! And these high skilled people are tinkering since 2+ months on the new timeline... Good quality takes time. Dreams take forever... ;)

Please respect the fact that one man has sacrificed sleep, his family and himself for this product, not because he has to but because he wants to, because he loves to! When someone as passionate as Jeff makes a promise, he keeps it, no matter what.

not because he has to but because he wants to, because he loves to!

Loves to get top skrilla for sitting on his ass.

The Futurefön fascinates me to no end. I have a reminder set to regularly look for updates. The latest update was a month ago:

However, our team has determined that though we have pushed through many obstacles this past year, we will not be able to begin shipping by the end of December 2015 as planned.

(..)

Our team has also selected most of the components and procurement has begun, so that the Dragonfly can transition smoothly to production and ultimately reach your hands in 2016!

(..)

We will not fail you, and you will never see an update that says, "well... sorry folks we tried but…." And you will never see us waiver in our commitment. We want to make it very clear to our backers that we are doing all we can to get the Dragonfly shipped ASAP.

How do you think it will all, ultimately, end? Was it a scam from the beginning? Do they actually have any prototypes? Do they believe their own words?

One should almost make a subreddit to follow this story. I just cannot fathom that anyone would be so cynical to just set this all up as an elaborate scam. I think/hope it is more a case of promising a bit more than you can keep, and lying a bit to close the gap between reality and projection, thinking you will eventually catch up with it and deliver.
