Love your research! A #piirusvoices Twitter chat

We understand that researchers often feel as though they are academically isolated, but if you’re such a researcher, well you are not alone. Piirus is really about helping researchers to connect with other researchers. Join us for the latest Piirus Voices event on February the 12th 2016, at 10:00am, GMT (UK time: see a timezone converter to find your local time). With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, Piirus will be hosting a Twitter discussion called ‘Love your research’, to create a conversation about what you love about your research. There will be a host of invited researchers, experienced in their craft and with a wealth of information about research, collaboration, publishing and lots more.

We’re looking forward to having you share what you love about your research on this Twitter chat.

As you can probably guess, one of the main things we are interested in is: What do you love about your research? Why is it that you have decided to dedicate your life (at least some part of it) to your field of enquiry? We want you to tell us your ‘love’ story by tweeting it with our event hashtag #piirusvoices, and you can also use #LoveYourResearch for our theme. You could make a short YouTube video to share. Maybe you prefer the medium of song: feel free to sing it and post the recording (if you’re into that kind of thing). We’re pretty open-minded…

Here’s a taste of some of the questions that will be discussing during the chat on 12th February:

  1. What do you love most about your current research?
  2. What research collaborations have you most enjoyed?
  3. Why do you love your research?

After the event, the Top 5 Tweets will be shared using Storify, a short YouTube video and a blogpost.

For me, I find what I study (human relationships) to be both really challenging (in the best possible way) and exciting! I feel as though I’m doing something important and something that will help people (myself included) to understand their lives better. I really feel as though I’m not the only person alive who is interested in better understanding relationships (whether my own or someone else’s).

One of the goals of this Piirus Voices chat on Twitter is to help researchers and aspiring researchers to focus on positive things about their research. We know that many of you have passion for your research, so let us hear about it! This really is a fantastic opportunity for you to reach out to the wider community of researchers and maybe even find a like-minded individual, or a collaboration partner(s).

We would really ‘love’ to see you there…

If you haven’t already, be sure to head to Piirus today and create a FREE account then connect with researchers from all around the world!
