TC Winston: Telecommunications to Taveuni cut

Update: 2:03PM ALL communications to Taveuni have been cut-off.

Commissioner Northern Jovesa Vocea confirmed that efforts to contact the district emergency operation centre on the island and the police station were futile.

Mr Vocea said they could not maintain contact with villagers on Qamea Island also.

Attempts by The Fiji Times team to get through to people in Taveuni were unsuccessful.
