Event Details

The second AE event concerns itself with the question: How is Architecture Political? in which Chantal Mouffe will exchange ideas with four eminent architectural practitioners and thinkers: Pier Vittorio Aureli, Reinhold Martin, Ines Weizman and Sarah Whiting.

The topic centres around the writings and contributions of the philosopher Chantal Mouffe, the need to position oneself politically, and the increasing demands from within and without architecture for the prefession to position itself in the contemporary reality.

Mouffe's theories of agonism, conflict and contestation, especially within developing urban paradigms, are often cited within architectural discourse. But how much do the fields of political philosophy and architecture really exchange?
