Though it took the top spot for the 14th weekend, the momentum of Disney's Frozen (2013) finally appears to be slowing down in Japan.

With a week-on-week drop of 34%, the animated fantasy made ¥393 million (US$3.85 million) from 304,000 admissions on Saturday and Sunday. It has now made a total of ¥23.3 billion (US$228 million) from 18.2 million admissions.

The top new film this weekend was Darren ARONOFSKY's Noah. From 361 screens, the biblical drama made ¥255 million (US$2.49 million) from 200,000 admissions on Saturday and Sunday. After three days, it has made ¥335 million (US$3.28 million)

Three years ago, Aronofsky's Black Swan (2010) opened with ¥266 million (US$2.6 million) from 316 screens. It made a total of ¥2.39 billion (US$23.4 million) during its theatrical run.

The top local film was KIMURA Daisaku 木村大作's Climbing to Spring 春を背負って (pictured), starring MATSUYAMA Kenichi 松山ケンイチ as a trader who returns to his mountain hometown to attend his father's funeral. The drama made ¥95.2 million (US$932,000) from 81,200 admissions.

Opening 13th-placed, MAEDA Koji 前田弘二's My Hawaiian Discovery わたしのハワイの歩きかた (2014) made ¥19.9 million (US$195,000) from 200 screens. KUMAKIRI Kazuyoshi 熊切和嘉's My Man 私の男 fared better at 14th place, making ¥19.4 million (US$190,000) from a limited 71-screen release.

After three weekends, NAKATA Hideo 中田秀夫's Monsterz MONSTERZ has made ¥697 million (US$6.82 million), and X-Men: Days of Future Past has made ¥845 million (US$8.27 million).
