Michigan state highway 87 sign.

1955 specification highway marker.

Fenton.

Before my dad passed on his 35mm Argus C3 Camera to me, he let me take it out one day in November of 1956. I stumbled on this photo that I took right here in Fenton 53 years ago. As I think about it, it was my first intentional highway sign photo! M-87 was decommissioned the following year. It ended about a half mile down the street here at the Junction with US 23. In 1957, the first stretch of US 23 freeway was opened from Fenton to Clio, Michigan; when US 23 was shifted, they took out M-87 at the same time.
