Short named to 2010 Northern League Post-Season All-Star Team

ZION, Ill. – The Northern League announced today that Lake County Fielders power hitter Josh Short has been named to the 2010 post-season all-star team.

Short, the Northern League Rookie Player of the Year was selected as designated hitter after having a phenomenal rookie season. Short posted a .326/.419/.594 line for the 2010 season. He finished second in the league in RBIs (84) and fourth in the league in batting average (.326), home runs (26) and extra base hits (48).

Short was named Player of the Week in August and was the starting left fielder for the Northern League All-Star Team. It was announced earlier this month that Short was voted the Northern League Rookie Player of the Year.

The Lake County Fielders are part of the independent Northern League and represent Lake County’s only professional sports team. The team is owned in part by long-time baseball fanatic and Academy award-winning actor Kevin Costner. The new stadium facility, home to the Fielders, is located at the corner of Route 173 and Green Bay Road in Zion, Illinois.
