Kyouya is a very cold and hard cop in Shinjuku, but a very good detective. Jiraishin is about him and the cases he solves. The manga has a very dark mood and style.

A unique account of Shinjuku Homicide Detective, Kyoya Iida's investigations. In each story, Iida steps into the darkness of a criminal's soul and gets a glimpse of their anger, lust, despair, craziness or loneliness. Through Volumes 1 to 8, his partner is Detective Tsuyoshi Yamaki. Yamaki admires Iida as a detective, but is unable to keep up with him. On the eve of his son's birth, Yamaki gets shot by a Shanghai gangster and dies in Kabukicho, Shinjuku. From Volume 9, Iida's new partner is Detective Eriko Aizawa. She has been promoted and transferred to the Shinjuku Police Station, because of her excellent language skills. Baffled by Iida's approach, she handles each case with a feminine touch. Other minor characters include Mr. Narita, Iida's boss and Dr. Nakahara, a police doctor. Iida fights crime in Tokyo and even overseas in Hamburg, Shanghai, New York and Taiwan. {020}

Skyhigh
serialized on Young Jump,
2 volumes @ Y505
[ 01:____| 02:____]
Tsutomu changed editors between Tetsuwan Girl and this one, Skyhigh. This series aligns a number of short stories around a common theme: we follow the souls of people who have been killed, whether it be in an accident or on purpose. The souls get a choice between three options in the afterlife. Or they go to paradise, or they go for vengance and after that hell, or they choose for a new chance, and begin life again. On this basis, Tsutomu continues to explore the type of characters we already know from his former work: dark, desperate, with little light in life. And in the same time, he takes the chance to give his personal interpretation of the being of ghosts.
