Ice Cube professes his love often for his wife, Kim Jackson, and even incorporated some of their love story in the epic recently released Compton movie. “I still get the butterflies when I see her. It's a true partnership. I respect my wife and she respects me.” Wise words from a wise man.
The secret to their marital bliss? “I still want her to look at me and say, ‘this is the man I still want to be with.’ ”
In NWA’s biopic film starring his son O’Shea Jackson Jr., who plays Ice Cube in the film, we also get a glimpse at how committed Cube was in changing the rap game. With Kim by his side on screen as well, Straight Outta Compton tells the story of how NWA had a dream & changed the world when they accomplished it. Compton dominated its first 3 weeks at the box office topping the charts at #1 and grossing over $134.1m in the U.S. alone.
Like father, like son...O’Shea Jackson Jr. continues to get rave reviews playing his father. Can you imagine though, having to play your dad who’s dating your mom back in the day? Great acting!
Ice Cube, also known for his hilarious roles in the Friday movies franchise, Barber Shop, and Are We There Yet, is also a hit at giving couples advice on how to keep your marriage intact and those flames sparked. A few of his tricks are:
- He gets up pretty early in the morning, but he doesn't rush straight to work. “I like to hang out with my wife, talk about things, get some coffee, you know?”
- Sometimes he eats the dinner she made last night, for breakfast in the morning. “She's the best cook” he says, which is why he doesn't do it, because he isn't so great at it.
- Cube says they’re also a great partnership. He puts it this way: “It'll be like if she went to make a record. We just both do what we're best at.”
- He advises staying on your P’s and Q’s and going for what you know.
