Table of Late Eastern and Western Roman Emperors
Roman Emperors After Theodosius I
Theodosius I (or Theodosius the Great -- the one to close down the ancient Olympic games and enact other anti-pagan measures) was the last emperor who, in actual practice, controlled the eastern and western sections of the Roman empire. Those Roman emperors who followed him split it up. According to historian J.B. Bury, the following emperors of the West were either usurpers or not recognized in the East: Constantine III, John, Maximus, Severus, Olybrius, Glycerius, and Romulus Augustulus (the famously final emperor of the western section of the Roman Empire).
