Attaining this degree of education has enabled me to develop a broad
background in many methods and materials used in fine arts. Specifically I have concentrated
on wood and metal working techniques: I am familiar and competent with a wide variety of
machines and tools used in the fabrication of objects with both wood and metal, from casting
bronze to turning Teak. The course work in Art History I have done informs my awareness of
art work that I see and that I do, how it is created and how it has meaning.

Past to Present: Artist & Independent Contractor
Self Employed, Milwaukee, WI
The former part of this title is comprised of the conception and creation of works of art
solely for the sake of their creation. The later part is contractual based work that involves
consultation with a client to find out and assess a project that they are hiring me to
facilitate and or create. These projects include rough and finish carpentry, building
restoration, furniture and other functional object design and fabrication; most recently I
have contracted to create wooden props for the practice of Yoga.
1990 to 1996: Shop Supervisor and Assistant
UWM School of Architecture, Milwaukee, WI
This position involved supervising and assisting students working in a
wood working shop at UWM. Supervising these students usually involved making them aware of
how to safely operate all of the machinery and monitoring them, making sure that established
safety rules and guidelines were being followed. Assisting these students consisted of helping them
translate their two dimensional drawings into three dimensional models. I also was jointly
responsible for maintaining all of the power and hand tools in the shop in proper and safe
working order.
Accomplishments:
For The three Summer months of 1997 I worked as a member of the Taliesin
Preservation Commission on their preservation crew as a paid Intern at the Frank Lloyd Wright
Estate in Spring Green, WI. During this time I worked full time within the preservation maintenance
program working on many of the ongoing projects that the commission deems necessary for the
physical survival of Taliesin. These projects included stonework and masonry, treatment of
decaying materials to conserve them and surveying and inventorying artifacts within the many
buildings that make up the estate.
In February of 1996, a sculpture of mine was chosen by a panel of jurors to be part
of a national exhibition. The Exhibit was titled, "MERGED REALITIES: A SYNTHESIS OF ART AND SCIENCE."
This exhibit was put together by the Central Arts Collective in conjunction with the Flandrau
Science Center the university of Arizona. The purpose of the exhibition was to facilitate a new and
better relationship between artists and scientists.
In June of 1995 A permanent large Scale Sculpture was unveiled on The campus of the
university of Wi-Milwaukee. The Sculpture is entitled, "Jantar Mantar" and its design and
conception is by Narendra Patel. I was a member of a crew of about 12 members that carried out
the installation and creation of this project over a 4 month period, from its proposal and
selection to its concrete completion.
Personal Interests:
Currently I Instruct two beginning level Iyengar Style Hatha Yoga classes at the
downtown YMCA. I also maintain my own personal practice of this art form on a continual basis
though the physical practice and intellectual study of the teachings of different practitioners of
Yoga . I also attend Classes in Yoga locally and regionally on a regular basis.
