Move Over Boring Breads for Brunch

Ah, brunch. Why most of us love weekends is not necessarily because we get to sleep in or lay low doing nothing all day, it is also because of the prospect of brunch. Yes that perfect meal that neither requires you to get up early in the morning, or miss your afternoon nap. Okay enough with the sleeping references. We at NDTV Goodtimes bring to you a list of brunch breads that aren't your usual buttered toast.

Croissant: Part Viennese, but mostly known as a French bread type, this on a side or as whole is absolutely delicious. It's buttery and fluffy, and can easily take place of your everyday toast. However if you are feeling super sinful, try a chocolate croissant.

Scones: This is a small bread that would basically accompany your warm beverage. Served traditionally with clotted cream and jam, this bread would be super delicious with tea. Also, how British would your brunch look, then?!

Brioche: This is also a pastry bread, and you probably have had them as a side to your savoury dinners. Though one of the ingredients, in some parts of the world, that are included in making of a brioche is brandy. Try one of these, and redefine the meaning of a boozy brunch.

Focaccia: This bread is for those of us, we have no qualms admitting, who aren't easily satiated by a sandwich / pancake / eggs brunch. We may need our portion of pasta or perhaps a big bowl of salad. Focaccia being an Italian bread suits food items that veer more towards the lunch bit of a brunch.

Baguette: You can opt for a baguette sandwich if you'd like a la-dee-dah experience instead of your usual - and quite honestly mundane - multigrain bread one. You can fashion this sandwich with a runny egg in between with some avocados, or have warm roasted veggies with pesto. It is sure to be filling, and refreshing for your brunch date!

Soda Bread: The Europeans have really mastered the art of baking bread in variations so different that a whole meal can be curated just with breads. This particular one has versions spanning across Serbia, Scotland, Ireland etc.  This flakey bread, as the name suggests, is perfect as a side to your meal.

Ciabatta: Breakfast Panini are our in house favourite! Whether it's in the form of a caprese sandwich, or just good ol' pesto, sundried tomato, and olive oil, this accompanied with a glass of fresh juice or some coffee. This will be especially useful for those of you trying to nurse a hangover!

Potato Bread: It traditionally goes by the name of Kartoffelbrot, which to be honest is quite difficult to call out. However, the bread is not really difficult to bake. As the name suggests the base of the bread is potato based and that definitely ups the ante for it to be included in your brunch menu. Go traditional with this one, and spread some almond butter on it. We guarantee it will be absolutely delicious!
