A New Species of the Genus Mileewa (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae: Cicadellinae) from Chongqing, China
Abstract:A new species of the genus Mileewa Distant, namely Mileewa jianzhuensis sp. nov., was collected from Chongqing, China, is described in this paper, along with illustrations of male genitalia and photos of the new species. The type specimens are deposited in the Institute of Entomology of Guizhou University, Guiyang, Guizhou, China (GUGC).
Mileewa jianzhuensis Meng et Yang, sp. nov. (Fig. 1, Fig. 2)
Body Length (incl. tegm.): ♂6.1 mm, ♀6.3 mm.
This new species is similar to Mileewa fanjingana Yang et Li in appearance, but can be easily distinguished from the latter by the following characteristics: the abdomen is pale yellow, aedeagus anterior area with long petiolus and median area with a dentate process dorsally, the style subapical area without process, and the shape of pygofer appendage and subgenital plate also distinctly different.
Holotype: ♂, Jianzhu (alt. 1240 m), Chengkou, Chongqing, 07-Ⅶ-2008, YANG Zai-hua leg.; Paratype: 1♀, same data as holotype.
Etymology: The new species name is derived from the type locality.
