Bauer appoints Ellie Hughes as editor at Top Santé

Hughes, who is currently editor of Bauer's Pregnancy & Birth magazine, will replace Sharon Parsons.

Bauer Media's women's health and well-being magazine Top Santé has Ellie Hughes as its new editor.

Hughes, who is currently editor of Bauer's Pregnancy & Birth magazine, will replace Sharon Parsons who has been in her second spell at the helm of the monthly.

Parsons joined in January last year after previously having edited the title for three years between 1997 and 2000.

Bauer said Parsons was leaving after a "successful period of repositioning the monthly as the unrivalled brand for 40-something women".

According to the most recent figures from the Audit Bureau of Circulations, Top Santé sold an average of 78,614 each month during the first six months of 2010 -a year-on-year decline of 5.9 per cent.

The publisher said it had instigated a search for Hughes's successor at Pregnancy & Birth - she is expected to take up her new role on 8 November when she will report directly to Rimi Atwal, publisher of Bauer's specialist women's titles.

Atwal said: "Ellie's credentials as a specialist magazine editor and her instinctive understanding of Top Santé's health conscious readership fought off fierce competition to gain the job of Top Santé editor."
