Kissell Leading Johnson by 12 in New NC-08 Poll

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee today released a new Greenberg Quinlan Rosner Research poll that shows Representative Larry Kissell leading Republican challenger Harold Johnson by 12 percent.

In the initial head-to-head in the race for North Carolina's 8th congressional district, Kissell leads Johnson 48 to 36 percent.  Libertarian Thomas Hill received 6 percent. Conducted August 25-29, the poll surveyed 400 likely voters and has a 4.9 percent margin of error.

Voters disapprove of Harold Johnson saying he would be willing to cut Medicare and Social Security in Congress, and even supported raising the retirement age.  Working people pay into Social Security their entire lives but when they need it most, Harold Johnson would take it away.

"Harold Johnson backs dangerous policies to send North Carolina jobs overseas and cut Medicare and Social Security for seniors," said Jesse Ferguson, Southern Regional Press Secretary at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. "Voters are responding to Representative Larry Kissell’s independent minded approach to solving problems and his record of standing up for middle class families and job creation. They know they can’t trust Johnson to stand up for anything other than special interests."
