Recently, the Academy Awards came under fire for a lack of diversity in its Oscar nominations.
But, here in Seattle, Asian American actors and artistry are being recognized with a film festival in town from February 19th to the 21st!
LeiLani Nishime from the 2016 Seattle Asian American Film Festival stopped by New Day NW to talk about the importance of the festival.
She also highlighted three films from the festival she thinks the public should see, "In Football We Trust", "Advantageous" and "Don't Think I've Forgotten: Cambodia's Lost Rock and Roll".
To learn more about other films appearing in the festival, and where each is playing, check out the Seattle Asian American Film Festival website.
