Norman Claypoole
Norman J. Claypool, 54 of 881 Kaypat Drive, Hope, died early Saturday morning,
Nov. 8, of a heart attack while hunting in Meteetse, Wyo. Born Oct. 20, 1921 in Clarkston, Mr.
Claypool graduated from Flint Nothern High School i n1939. He married the former Alice Miller July
16, 1967 and has live in Midland since 1950. Formerly an employee of Austin Construction Company,
he had been working for Dow Chemical since 1956 as a senior maintenance specialist. He also was a
World War II veteran serving in the European, African and Middle Eastern theatres. He was a member
of the National Rifle Association.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Clifford and Duane, of Gladwin and Rodney, of Midland;
three step-sons, Douglas and Thomas Graham, of Mio and Gary Graham, at home; one daughter, Mrs.
Henry (Patricia) Mercer, of Gladwin; two step-daughters, Mrs. Duane (Carol) Claypool and Mrs.
Christine Graham, both of Gladwin; his mother, Mrs. Judson E. Claypool of Mt. Morris; one brother,
M. J. Claypool, of Mt. Morris; two sisters, Mrs. Shirley West, of Mt. Morris and Mrs. Dan Spears, of
Lansing; 14 grandchildren; and one great grandchild.
Services will be Wednesday (today) at 1 p.m. from the Ware-Smith Funeral Home, Midland with the
Rev. Noble C. Davis officiating.
