Gladwin County Obituary/Death Notice
 
Floyd Damitz

   Floyd Joseph Damitz, 85, of Gladwin, died May 13, 2006 in his home after a short illness. He was born May 17, 1920 to Emil Emanuel and Catherine (Wagner) Damitz in Antigo, Wis.

   Floyd retired from his occupation as a tool and die maker in 1981. He was also a World War II veteran, having served in the Army. He lived in Gladwin since 1982 after living in Southfield. As a resident of Gladwin, Floyd remained a Lifetime Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Floyd was married May 23, 1942 in St. Louis, Mo. to the former Doralee (Nowry) Damitz who died in 1994. Surviving are two daughters, Doreen (Robert) Hollis of Davisburg, and Marlene (Darryl) Duke of White Lake; one son Jeff (Marcene) Damitz of Gladwin; five grandchildren, Jennifer Hamilton of Holly, Jackie Sparre of Fenton, Jeff Fraser of Holly, Brandon Duke of White Lake, and Kelsey (Lauren) Damitz of Gladwin; his Great-grandchildren William and Jessy Hamilton of Holly; his brother Clyde Damitz of Fairview, and several neices and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents; wife; sisters Ella Arnold, Helen Nichols, Alice Lee and Mae Broeski and his brothers Normand and Elmer.

   He will be buried at Lane Heights Cemetery in Lupton. The funeral was Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at Hall Funeral Home. Pastor Phil Hortop officiated.
