John Murray Sr.

JOHN “JACK” PHILLIP MURRAY, SR. (13 APRIL 1918 - 3 FEB 1994)

   John P. (Jack) Murray Sr., 75, of Beaverton and formerly of Saginaw, passed away Thursday, Feb. 3, 1994, at MidMichigan Regional Medical Center following a lengthy illness.

   He was born April 13, 1918, in Saginaw, and had lived the last 23 years at Albright Shores. Jack married the former Margaret Schmieder of Saginaw on July 3, 1943, in Pittsburgh, Pa., while he was attending the U.S. Army Air Corps Aviation School at the University of Pittsburgh. She survives him. Jack served as a pilot in the Eighth Air Force. He was a 1st Lieutentant and flew 35 combat missions in a B-17 bomber.

   He had been employed at Eaton Corp. in Saginaw for 42 years until his retirement in 1983. Jack was a member of Falcons Hall No. 124, Eagles Club and the Moose Lodge of Esty.

   Surviving besides his wife, Margaret, are his daughter and three sons, Jacqulyn DuPeron of Saginaw, John P. Murray Jr. of Saginaw, Michael Murray and his wife, Teresa, of Enid, Okla., and Patrick Murray and his wife, Shawn, of Japan; 15 grandchildren; five great grandchildren, and his sister, Elizabeth Seamon of California. Jack was preceded in death by one son, Scott Douglas Murray, and by two sisters, Alvina and Viola Schuler.

   Funeral service will take place 1 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 6, 1994, at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State), Saginaw. Interment will take place at Billings Cemetery in Albright Shores. Friends may call at the funeral home on Hemmeter after 2 p.m. Saturday where the family will be present from 2 to 9 p.m., and on Sunday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

   Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Shriner's Hospital for Crippled Children.
