shop around some places are selling it considerably cheaper than steam, I know in the UK greenman gaming has it for about £30 compared to the £40 steam is selling it for.

Seriously, why? Advertise when you finish the fucking game. Until then, respect your customer and finish the game.
Who cares if its a good game, it's an alpha. In the first place, barely any people should be able to play it.
Gone are those days when Alpha is actually for the alpha people, I miss those days, seriously. And for this this, I will never ever buy a game that advertise even though they were still in Alpha regardless how good it is.

People have their own personal taste, but I just don't get how Dota 2 is so fun, there's no progression at all plus there's not enough group play, where you can mess around like Arma 3 for example or Guild Wars 2, perhaps I'm the minority of the gamer population now...

It's something of an acquired taste. It was a year after I first played it before it clicked for me (not a year of regular play, I gave up on it after a few weeks). For me it's the teamwork with friends and tangible feeling of improvement that I enjoy. Having said that, I generally only play with my friends, and more often than not it's bot matches. That way it's a co-op challenge and it lets us mess about a bit without upsetting anyone. Perhaps we're in a minority too though.
