Humphreys signs for Us
Cambridge United have signed Sheffield Wednesday striker Ritchie Humphrey's in a deal which brings him to the Abbey for the remainder of the season.
The former England U21 international will be eligible to play against Oxford and he may well be thrown straight into the action after impressing U's boss Roy McFarland whilst on trial. "He's keen, and he's done well. The pleasing thing is that his training has been very good and he's done very all this week," McFarland, who has been on the lookout for a striker, said. Humphreys burst onto the scene in 1996, but since then a loss of form has left him out of favour at the Owls. And the 23-year-old player admitted he was looking forward to the chance of resurrecting his career. "I'm looking forward to getting back playing and scoring goals," he said. "The main reason for joining is it gives me an opportunity to get playing again and get my career back on track. "It wasn't going that way at Wednesday."
