Nicola Solomon

Chief Executive, Society of Authors

Nicola Solomon is the current chief executive of the Society of Authors and an exceptionally important voice in protecting authors’ rights. A solicitor by trade, Solomon has been an outspoken advocate for authors’ interests at the society in negotiations and disputes with publishers and agents. She also oversees an authors’ pension fund and provides advice and support on such a wide range of concerns as tax, privacy, copyright and freedom of speech. Before joining the Society of Authors, where she has been since 2011, Solomon was a solicitor at leading media firm Finers Stephens Innocent, specialising in intellectual property and media law. She studied Law at the University of Warwick and is consistently ranked in the Bookseller 100 list of the most influential names in the book trade.
