Tim Steiner

Founding ceo, Ocado

Tim Steiner co-founded online grocer Ocado in 2000 with two former colleagues from Goldman Sachs, Jonathan Fairman and Jason Gissing. It is now the world’s largest online grocery and listed in the FTSE 250. Ocado began trading in partnership with Waitrose, selling the supermarket’s own-brand groceries as well as goods from Carrefour, named brands and Ocado’s own label. In 2013 the company signed a deal with its first strategic customer, Morrisons, to help it start up its online provision, and began deliveries for the supermarket in 2014. Steiner graduated from Manchester and worked at Goldman Sachs for eight years prior to founding Ocado. The company has achieved the distinction of being voted Best Online Supermarket for each successive year since 2010 by readers of Which? magazine.
