Barney Cheng
Award-winning Hong Kong couturier Barney Cheng is best known for his luxury wedding gowns, cocktail dresses and eveningwear. Cheng studied at the Royal College of Art in London and Parsons in Paris before graduating from the University of Waterloo in Canada and launching his design studio Yenrabi Ltd in 1993. With a design style that he calls ‘extravagant simplicity’, Cheng’s customers include Maggie Cheung, Michelle Yeoh, Gong Li, Anita Mui, Carina Lau and Shu Qi. Cheng now also sources and designs gem and diamond sets to complement his clients’ bespoke Barney Cheng wardrobes. In 2010 he was named in Forbes China’s Top 25 Most Influential Chinese in Global Fashion.
