The Groom's Parents
The groom's parents can be involved as much as they are invited to be, or wish to be.
- Traditionally, the groom's mother's role is limited, but she is often involved in aspects of the planning. She may help out with organising the wedding, or be given a specific task.
- If the reception is held at their house, or the bride has strained parental relations or no parents still living, then the dynamic changes completely. The groom's parents will often assume the roles traditionally fulfilled by the bride's parents.
- On the day, they sit in the second pew/row of seats on the right, and join the recessional. The groom's father escorts the mother of the bride out down the aisle, and the father of the bride usually escorts the groom's mother.
- The groom's parents may have more or less influence depending on their level of financial contribution towards the wedding.
