Celebrating the NSFNET

The NSFNET was a program of coordinated, evolving projects sponsored by the National Science Foundation beginning in 1985 to promote advanced networking in the United States. NSFNET was also the name given to a nationwide physical network that was constructed to support the NSF's networking initiatives from 1985-1995. More about NSFNET.

In Arlington, VA on November 29-30, 2007, an event celebrated the NSFNET and reflected on the astonishing changes that the Internet has spawned over the last twenty years. More about the event.

The event was organized by a small group of volunteers, most of whom were deeply involved in the NSFNET. More about the planning committee.
