Atelier Sophie

Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Book will launch physically and digitally for PlayStation 4 and digitally PS Vita on June 7 in North America and on June 10 in Europe, Koei Tecmo announced.

Here’s an overview, via Koei Tecmo:

Set against a vibrant background reminiscent of a medieval European town the Atelier series’ 17th installment follows the exploits of a young novice Alchemist who discovers she is the owner of an enigmatic volume imbued with a soul. This Mysterious Book seems to hold all the secrets to Alchemy knowledge and it goes on to become Sophie’s mentor. Sophie’s improving alchemy skills start bringing back forgotten memories and uncover the strange tale of the book’s origin.

The development team at Gustconsider this title ‘the new standard for the Atelier series’ as they have poured all their creativity in rebuilding the alchemy system from the ground up and in crafting a visually stunning world full of well-rounded characters and beautiful illustrations. In a series first, there are two key illustrators involved in the making of Atelier Sophie, NOCO and Yuugen. Their distinctive work makes the world come alive and creates a dynamic environment where time, weather, and relationships affect the adventures of the young new alchemist and her trusted allies!

NIS America will produce a $99.99 limited edition of the game including:

No PS3 version is unfortunate but I’m personally glad that I’ll be able to buy the Vita version.

    • Snub La

Get a PS4. Who has a Vita but no PS4 lol?

      • dark-kyon

You will surprised about how many.

      • Zam

you know, there is even people who own a ps4 but bought the game (only) on psv (really, really, I’m not lying)

      • CrimsonChaos

I don’t want one. It’s that simply. It has nothing to do with the game library or price.

      • Bobby Jennings/GodlessChaos

        Stupid question lol

      • Pobedni

        Everyone

      • Waifu Engineering

Me, for one. I originally got the PS3 for Valkyria Chronicles, then got the Vita for Valkyria Chronicles 2 (digital PSP download). I ended up getting Gravity Rush plus all the weeb dungeon crawlers you can get.

One reason I’m resisting on PS4 because I know if I’m going to get it I will practically splurge for the VR bundle… including all the games I’ve been eyeing, this will run more more than a thousand dollars just for my first dip.

It’s just too much to handle.

  • ninReaper

Still want to get into this series, was thinking of starting with Ayesha+ but this is looking so good, will probably start with Sophie

    • LunarHaven

I think Sophie is the start of a new trilogy, so starting here should be fine.

    • Unretributed

      Start with Ayesha +

  • Hexodious

    lol predictable

  • Cavern

The release date is not bad. It is nice to see they chose a summer release rather than fall. I will definitely get this.

  • nonchalantxsteve

seems cool but why would they announce this before attack on titan

    • JonathanisPrimus

This came out months before Attack on Titan in Japan. They’ve already confirmed AoT for the west too.

      • nonchalantxsteve

I should have been more clear i meant a release date

    • http://gematsu.com/ Sal Romano

Attack on Titan has been announced for the west since the day it was announced for Japan. =P

      • nonchalantxsteve

yeah i saw the tgs trailer but they didn’t announce the release date yet I thought AOT was more popular enough to give out a release date before this game

  • Bianca Ann Saracino

What a freaking beautiful LE! and I think that’s Christine Cabanas voicing Sophie! My favorite VA <3 This release is already perfect! Thanks KT Can't wait, love the Atelier series ^_^

    • mrgrgr!

wondering that too. sophie is either her or vee. don’t know about platcha

      • Bianca Ann Saracino

Yeah when Vee does her voice like that they can sound very similar haha Though I’m almost positive its Cabanas as her voice in this particular trailer is a bit lower and sounds almost identical to her other role as Nepgear from the Neptunia series. Vee has a slightly higher tone usually when she goes into that voice. I love both either way but I’d say its most likely Cabanos ^_^ Platcha I can’t think off the top of my head either.

        • mrgrgr!

was secretly hoping for Marieve Herington to get sophie I love her as Honoka from love live.~ hopefully on future atelier games she could land a role

          • Bianca Ann Saracino

She seems to be a pretty new VA and I loved her as Honoka ^_^ Still plenty of other roles so you never know!

            • mrgrgr!

              yeaaaaaa

    • commodorewheeler

Wasn’t she also Alisa Reinford in Trails of Cold Steel? Love her.

      • Bianca Ann Saracino

        I believe she was ^_^

  • awvnx

    Some racy preorder art
    Not for children

    • awvnx

      Also, that book…

      • PSI Wind

Actually, we aren’t getting the lewd art cards from what I can see.

    • Cavern

Its kinda funny since all of this would be removed or completely edited if a certain group was handling this.

    • http://www.santashi.com/ Santashi

I actually like the least racy one best – the one in the bottom right corner. It has a nice, peaceful feel to it, plus the subtle colour scheme is quite pleasing to the eye. Pie is quite cute, though!

    • Firion Hope

I want those book robit costumes in game

    • Bianca Ann Saracino

Is there a full artbook for this game released in Japan by chance? The Atelier series probably has by far my favorite artwork and I own a few artbooks from the series ^_^

  • Zam

Now, I guess only people playing only on ps3 will complain,
it’s a shame that it doesn’t come physically on psv but that has been an habit for KT.

I’m happy it comes on both ps4 and psv

  • Bobby Jennings/GodlessChaos

Getting this day one. Just unsure of what system to get it on. Probably ps4 for the 60 fps

  • awvnx

Vita gameplay footage for those wondering about framerate.

    • Raphael Cuyugan

      It runs great!

    • http://www.jrpgreview.com Mellow

Like night and day between that excellent looking Vita version and the Nights of Azure one.

      • Uncle Stoopnixie

That’s because, unlike Nights of Azure, Gust handled the Vita port of Atelier Sophie.

Those guys are not a big studio but goddamn they really work hard and do things right.

  • Raphael Cuyugan

Get ready for that Vita 7GB file size!

    • awvnx

That was a mistake on JP PSN. It’s 2 GB + 1 GB update

      • Raphael Cuyugan

        Oh really? Hahaha

      • GamingGuy1802

Damn JP PSN!! Looks like I lied!!

  • vertical09

Gorgeous, though I can’t help but feel it’s not worth 100 bucks.

  • duplakappa

What about Atelier Shallie? Are they gonna skip it? :/

    • CrimsonChaos

I don’t think they will skip Shallie Plus. Sophie came out first in Japan.

      • duplakappa

        I hope you’re right…

    • Zam

They already released it on ps3, and the plus version has just released in Japan

    • Bobby Jennings/GodlessChaos

That was my first question as well but we got shallie on PS3. All we’re missing is the plus version which I can’t wait for.

    • awvnx

Localization announcements always take months to come. Shallie Plus just came out a few weeks ago. Sophie came out 5 months ago.

  • Raoni Marques

Well…another game to spend money on. Can’t wait for it!

  • PSI Wind

Eeeeeh, $40 extra is too much for an LE for me. IFI’s price on PS4 LEs are basically my sweet spot. The V-II LE even had more, better content than this. I’ll pick up the normal version though. Never played an Atelier game.

  • Pobedni

    Well, that’s something

  • landlock

Cool. Pretty much as expected. PS4 retail for me.

  • LunarHaven

I have no doubt the soundtrack will be excellent. Looking forward to this game!

  • Elle

No thanks. 40/50 (20% off price) dollars more for the LE? Keep it. Getting this day 1 to play all summer.

    • awvnx

Yeah I’m a big fan of XSEED’s +$10 LEs instead since I don’t necessarily want all that extra stuff. Just give me a nice box and an artbook.

  • Guernica

A lot closer than I thought. Definitely picking up day one.

  • Zeria

Well, June and physical PS4 is great. Digital-only Vita? Not so much. Guess this will be a PS4 purchase for me.

  • Tako Luka

If I can still get the LE by next week I most likely will get it

    • mrgrgr!

you could prolly still order it by next week. NISA usually restock (secretly) even if their first allocation are gone

      • Tako Luka

I hope, the soundtrack and giant poster is worth it

  • Uncle Stoopnixie

Well, for the first time i won’t buy the Atelier LE.. 99$US is like 140$CAD with NISA’s insane shipping that’s like 180$ AND i would most likely get the game 3-4 weeks after it’s release…

I’ll buy the ps4 edition day one on amazon tho, can’t wait to play it, i really love this franchise.

  • Hayate Omega ZX (Sora Sen)

So is Atelier any good? I played one I think years ago, thought it was ok, wanna try to get into it

    • mrgrgr!

      great

      • Hayate Omega ZX (Sora Sen)

Alright, I guess I’ll check it out. Thanks

        • scdk

That’s all it takes to convince you? You should check out videos regarding item collection and alchemy synthesis though, since that’s potentially a dealbreaker for some people. You spend a lot of time crafting items, so if you don’t like that, you might want to consider picking up an older title on sale to try it out first.

          • Hayate Omega ZX (Sora Sen)

I mean, I still follow the games somewhat, so I know the basic gist already :p Besides, I love item crafting so there’s that

    • Uncle Stoopnixie

I always liked it but since the early ps3 the games just got better and better.

The ps2 and ps1 atelier game are pretty different than the 3d ones still really good.

    • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Too late to ask that m8

      • Hayate Omega ZX (Sora Sen)

Do I have to play the previous games to understand?

        • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

No, this one is an standalone entry. Dont listen those who mention Logy, its just a look-alike cameo like Towa in Tokyo Xanadu.

          • Hayate Omega ZX (Sora Sen)

Oh ok. So why was it too late for Mii to ask that?

            • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Too many entry to follow and it was on the big news when Rorona was getting localized in ps3.

              • Hayate Omega ZX (Sora Sen)

Ah. Well, if it’s stand alone, better than never, right?

  • Psycho Punch

Digital only for the Vita? Do we have details on the Asian (English) localization if they’re going to be making physical copies in the territory?

    • scdk

I’m hoping they’re just holding off on a Vita physical version (even if limited) for a potential Sophie Plus version in the future, although some folks think it won’t get a Plus version due to its simultaneous multi-console release. It hasn’t stopped them in the past, though.

Considering they could only muster a digital Vita release, it’s strange the PS3 didn’t even get a digital release too.

Play-Asia is a good place to check for Asian English releases though, since they like to capitalize on that. Looks like this game is only subtitled in Chinese though — no English.

      • scdk

I could never finish an Atelier game before Ayesha, which I bought on a whim. I was pretty sad when I found out that Atelier Plus was digital only, and the Plus version isn’t available on other consoles.

Someday when PSN drops Vita support, it’ll be sad to think of games like that potentially being lost forever as people lose or corrupt their backup copies.

Hopefully someone will make a digital repository/archive in the future to preserve stuff like that.

        • Infasis

Yeah, I hate this digital future. I just bought Shinobido for Vita only to find out that the game has been removed from PSN and now the game tells me about it’s DLC in the splash screen thing, but you can’t even buy it anyway.

I guess I should just be happy the game had a physical copy, so I could buy that, since otherwise that would’ve been gone forever too, but still.

A little rule I started for myself is if I want a digital only game and it’s based on a franchise or the company seem to be having financial trouble, buy sooner rather than later.

  • Suriel Cruz

As much as I want to be excited for this, I’m not. In my opinion, this game is not at the same or in a better level than Atelier Escha and Logy or Atelier Shallie. It was a let down. May get it later on thru a digital sale or something, at full price, I don’t think it is worth it.
Now a localization of Atelier Shallie PLUS, that’s something to be excited about. :)

    • awvnx

Pretty weird when series fans were disappointed by E&L’s extreme lack of difficulty and even more so by Shallie’s uninteresting life task system, while Sophie has gotten more positive reception.

      • Suriel Cruz

Any “Atelier” game can be difficult when you’re not prepare, as easy as that, henceforth, those saying it is “Easy”, is because that by the end they were prepare, which is a common thing in any JRPG. Besides, these games are meant to be play and enjoy from the get go, for those looking a challenge, they better find other “horizons”, cuz this ain’t one.

        • awvnx

E&L’s difficulty problem wasn’t only in combat. Even casual players could finish each assignment in half the time the game allocates you and then have absolutely nothing to do for 30+ days. The calendar was a formality in that game, which is probably why they removed it entirely in Shallie.

E&L and Shallie did have excellent combat systems though.

          • Suriel Cruz

That’s “Atelier” for you. As I said, this game series DO NOT goes with “Challenge” in its roots. It is a game series to enjoy, have fun, while discovering things and create new items thru Alchemy. Once again, difficulty, should not be a size in which this series is measure by, period. The graphics in this one are a problem too, not that it haven’t been that way before ,but this time around is VERY obvious. The backgrounds look as “bland” as ever and the change in Artist, I think it has affected the distintive form/style of “Atelier” games. Sounds aren’t the same, it lacks ground when it comes to story.

            • awvnx

There was plenty of challenge in the calendar system of Rorona – Meruru.

              • Suriel Cruz

My point is that is not better or equal than Escha to Logy or Shallie. In fact, it didn’t get that many support, not even thru DLC, it didn’t add NEW characters or any other new “thing”, just costumes and more costumes. Escha and Logy is by far the must popular title, by getting Anime adaptation and both versions selling well and well receive, there’s even a Manga about Escha and Logy too.

                • James Reilly

E&L was NOT the most popular Atelier from a sales perspective.

                • Lauracroft

you are fanboying wayy too hard -___-

                  • Suriel Cruz

“Passionate” should be the word and not your problem, if you find it “Hard”. ^ ^

                    • Lauracroft

i find it hard where you can’t stand the opinion of others

                    • Suriel Cruz

                      Disquss much?

                • awvnx

Yeah, Arland Plus games weren’t really worthwhile since they were close to PS3 but I thought we were talking about Sophie.

Look, E&L and Shallie have really good combat systems, and Shallie’s crafting system was the best of the PS3 Ateliers. But their overall gameplay loop was disappointing.

                  • Suriel Cruz

We’ll see… I love JRPGs regardless, so… It will be hard, to do an ‘Special Skill’ and not hear an exclusive OST for it and miss Hidari’s artwork. T^ T There’s a review that says, this game was meant for you to do everything in a thru and that’s nice to hear.

                • RedSuisei

                  >Escha and Logy is by far the most popular title
It sold the second lowest after Shallie out of all the PS3 Ateliers though.

                  • Suriel Cruz

It did get more fans by making a Boy(Logy) a Protagonist(once again!), Anime adaptations are based on Popularity, why there’s no Anime adaptation of previous titles? Also, a Manga. PLUS Logy rare(?) appereance in Sophie.
                    So this, have change, rigth?
                    (2009) Atelier Rorona – 43,243

                    (2010) Atelier Totori – 53,871
                    (2011) Atelier Meruru – 82,585
                    (2012) Atelier Ayesha – 60,548
                    (2013) Atelier Escha & Logy – 57,550
                    (2014) Atelier Shallie – 43,744

                    • RedSuisei

Nah, it was made into an anime because it was Gust’s 20th anniversary.

                    • Suriel Cruz

Meruru deserves that place. There’s no better character than Sterk, period… And reason, it is THAT high, may be cuz of the AMOUNT of characters in it. Each and everyone from that Trilogy is in it.

                    • RedSuisei

                      >may be cuz of the AMOUNT of characters in it. Each and everyone from that Trilogy is in it.
                      So does Shallie
Anyway yeah, your claim that E&L was by far the most popular is wrong.

                    • Suriel Cruz

Shallie DO NOT makes you play as Logy, Ayesha or Nio, unless in “PLUS” and even there, there’s no Nio involve.
E&L being popular, not that “wrong”, the game is popular still, it reflects on sales of Shallie even, by lack of “main” characters of E&L in it being playable, now this being fix thru a “PLUS” version. late?

                    • RedSuisei

Do anyone even care that much about Nio? She’s not even a main character, and Meruru also doesn’t include everyone from the trilogy.

And E&L sells less than Ayesha, Meruru, Totori, or even Sophie that you seem to dislike so much despite probably never having played it at all, so it’s not the “most popular” as you claim it to be.

And Shallie Plus was made like that mostly because fans aren’t satisfied with the ending, not the lack of character. Even then, they were mostly concerned with Ayesha, not Logy. Back when those two were announced in Japan, a lot more are voicing their joy over Ayesha’s appearance. Oh by the way, Logy’s appearance in Sophie is actually disliked by quite a bit of fans.

Fun fact: Logy in Shallie Plus is just a recolor, while Ayesha got a new 3D model and art.

                    • Suriel Cruz

I don’t care about Nio either. Meruru won’t be the same with the amount of characters it have, which equals to more stories and endings to beloved characters. It does’t matter how much the games sold, which in fact, many people buys the game to later feel bad or dissapointed about it. If is not that popular, why they didn’t choose to do an Anime for Atelier Meruru instead or any other?
Then popularity takes them to put Logy on Sophie, even tho, they could have go with many others or “heck!” an Original Character, still they put him. I do not like Logy being on Sophie either, but not because of this being Logy, but because of story. “Quite a bit of fans” may not like Logy in it(self include), but many do an so, they did support the game. Not that Logy is a point of buying the game, but it makes us talk and ask “Why is he there?”. Popularity or not, he do is very… “Alchemy” Hero-like, which the series is all about.

                    • RedSuisei

Seriously, you seem like you don’t really know what you’re talking about. I’ll break this down so it’s easier to understand.
-Meruru don’t have all characters, so your point that it’s popular because it has all characters sin the trilogy is untrue.
-You should see that the image I posted also have LTD, the lifetime sales. With LTD, people will already hear opinions on the game, if it’s disappointing, the LTD won’t be much higher than first-week, and vice-versa. Also, a lot of people have actually voiced their dislike over E&L, so if anything, many people are actually disappointed with E&L, which reflects in Shallie’s sales.
-Sophie actually got quite a few negative reviews in Japan. Most of them talks about the lack of time management, and most of them brings the lack of it in Shallie and the uselessness of it in E&L as well.
-E&L got an anime because it was Gust’s anniversary, as I have mentioned, and it was the latest Atelier at that time.
-I’ll give that quite some people also likes Logy, still, he probably only got in because Gust wants to add a blacksmith character, but also wants to have a cameo from Dusk (since Pamela is there to represent a cameo from games before Dusk) for the players who have only started from Dusk.
-“He do is very alchemy” Wtf are you even talking? You just say something that abstract because you like the game.

Look, I get you’re a fan of the more braindead E&L and Shallie, and it’s fine. But you’re starting to make up stuff and backpedaling hard only to fit your assumption.

                    • Suriel Cruz

“I’ll break this down so it’s easier to understand.”, “I get you’re a fan of the more braindead”,” …because the Westerners can’t handle the time limits.” … How much time do you spend writing that “article”? Here’s the deal… I like the “Atelier” series, been playing them, since PS2. One of my favorites is E&L(not necesarilly, cuz of ‘Time Management’, but because I like it, Meruru comes 2nd and Shallie 3rd) and Sophie did not do a GREAT JOB at making things BETTER. All this I said, without insulting you or degrading you, just saying my opinions. If you are “butthurt”, then opinions aren’t for you. Is not me being “braindead”, but you being You. ^ ^ Peace.

                    • RedSuisei

                      >Since PS2
That explains it, the Iris games are the ones that sold really bad in Japan because it’s different from the previous Ateliers.

                      >Sophie did not do a GREAT JOB at making things BETTER
You played the game already? If you haven’t then you’re really just making stuff up that you don’t know yourself.

Btw, gameplay being braindead isn’t really degrading, not everyone plays games for the challenge, people who prefer to relax while playing games would prefer the more braindead games, and that’s fine, people play games for fun anyway.

            • RedSuisei

              >this game series DO NOT goes with “Challenge” in its roots
Nah, the Arland’s time management actually made things challenging. Actually I believe that Gust made Sophie’s hard mode that hard, and even added Despair difficulty later on is to give the players who actually enjoyed the challenge in Ateliers to still feel the challenge despite losing the time limits.

                • RedSuisei

One thread that agrees with you invalidates everyone else who disagree with you, is it?

                  • Suriel Cruz

Not really. I don’t think that way. Do you?
Is just a point of view from someone who has play/and finish the game already and it has lots of “colors” to blindside people.

                    • RedSuisei

And here’s another point of view from someone who has finished the game on hard then beat the DLC bosses on Despair:
It’s much more challenging and fun than Shallie or E&L

                    • Suriel Cruz

Then I guess, that’s how it works, right? Opinions, Onions and Ingredients. ^ ^

                • RedSuisei

                  Oh btw,
                  >Story: It was fine, seemed to be linked to the dusk series
Seems like someone tried to play the game without understanding Japanese

          • RedSuisei

While I agree E&L and Shallie’s combat systems are good, it really went to waste mostly. Combat in E&L was really easy, and even Shallie and hardcore is easy af. Heck, for Shallie, I only made somewhat decent armor for everyone without upgrading everything else and still wiping everything.

      • http://twitter.com/SrTirano MrTyrant

Yeah I read that overall Sophie is better.

      • Lauracroft

yeah Sophie has received some stellar reception.

        • Suriel Cruz

Can I read some? Maybe, I’ll change my mind. Are they better than Escha and Logy?

      • Klaudkil

I hate time systems in games

  • Mohammed Allha

Every time I said i want to buy an atelier game a new get released

    • Unretributed

It’s like trying to jump on a moving train.

    • awvnx

Yearly release. This one is good to jump into though.

  • Mr_SP

    40″ poster!? A 1.2 meter poster? That’s pretty big.

  • commodorewheeler

Not sure I want the LE at $99. If they put it up at Amazon with the 20% off like they did their last 2 LEs, though, I’m in.

  • Superior Amygdala

Why are people surprised at the Vita version being Digital only…? Not a single Atelier game has made it out physically on the Vita in the west this is how all the games were treated. Be thankful we even got that version, as PS3 users, the userbase with obviously the biggest Atelier fanbase, is not getting the game at all.

    • Bianca Ann Saracino

Slight correction, the most recently released Atelier vita game in the west, Atelier Escha and Logy plus DID get a physical vita version exclusive to the NISA store with a pretty nice LE. But outside of that yeah every other Atelier vita game in the west was digital only.

    • Random Stalker

Because it would be nice to have a limited physical like they did with E&L Plus. The Atelier games are killing my memory card IMO.

      • dark-kyon

        Some context.

Limited run games about Vita cards and how are producing digital only releases.
        “For
reference, it’s 4x more expensive to produce Vita carts than PS4 discs
(if you only order the minimum quantities). If your game is 2GB+ or
costs $34.99+, the cost can jump to 6x or higher vs PS4. Most sane
publishers would look at the costs vs profits and back away slowly. ”

        • Elvick

Which is meaningless, because we know LR’s numbers are less than 5k so far. And it’s not a CE with additional things that they can produce cheaper to make profit on.

And, never mind that LR not only does low ass numbers, but charge barely anything. This game would be $40 on it’s own. Plus the CE stuff to increase the profit margins.

And, it doesn’t state that you’d lose money. It even says cost vs PROFITS not LOSSES.

        • Joey

Shame. Hope to see the potential collaboration with Sekai Project that they are teasing. I could do with physicals of Grisaia or WEE, or even better Clannad.

    • http://t.co/hs9uhabkCx nekogenesis

we know that bit its better if it were physical since then when the vita store closes down in the future whenever that may be people with vitas will still be able to play the games they paid money for.

    • James Reilly

Last two Vita Gust games [not counting Night of Azure that didn’t come at all] had a Nisa LE that had the physical Vita version. Both presumably sold well and one of those are E&L+. Problem is now there is a PS4 version release at the same time and they rather make people pay more money if they can. I mean they would not dare get anywhere close to $99 if this was mainly a Vita release. E&L+ LE was substantially cheaper.

  • Mark Lengod

The VA for Sophie is the same person that dubbed Ceci in Totori, isn’t she?

    • mrgrgr!

we assume’d its not her but the one voicing Marie Rose at DOA

      • Bianca Ann Saracino

I pre-ordered the fancy LE from Asia and cant wait for the game but you saying that reminded me again how DoAX3 is Asia only and that I wont be able to hear Christine as Marie Rose in it, makes me sad T_T haha

  • David Mayn

    Nice

  • natchu96

Too many games, not enough time . . .

  • Elvick

Saves me money I guess, will wait for the PS4 standard to drop in price to get it. First Atelier I won’t buy day 1 [excluding digital only + games] since… I think it started coming out on PS3.

Thanks TK and NISA. I would’ve bought it day 1 if you’d released a Vita CE, but now I can just use that money on other stuff.

  • http://twitter.com/M_Demolish Demolish

one day limited edition for me :D

  • Cael

“PlayStation 3 version staying in Japan.”
    FFFF-
    “NISA Europe Store”
    -UUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

  • ShinSansaki

Just Pre-ordered this on NISA Store, now I have another game to look forward to during summer. ^.^

  • ayanami-chan

Digital only for the vita… for fucks sake

    PS4 it is then.

Side note, it is nice the console and handheld versions are releasing together this time

  • An Tran

No memory left, so I can’t give them any money for this.

  • cyberkinghardy

NISA failed me. Another skipped game.

  • Firion Hope

Really digital only for vita? Fucks sake. After all that time we finally got a physical vita atelier release with escha and logy and then they stop right after that? And I don’t want to hear BS about sales because it completely sold out before the game released. Its annoying how companies keep throwing vita under the bus to try and prop up ps4, in japan ps4 is in a more similar position but they still put effort in to support it. And I feel even worse for ps3bros.

Anyway after a bad experience I’d rather not invest anymore in sonys digital ecosystem and Im disappointed so I guess rather than get the LE Ill probably get the standard physical edition. Still excited for the game itself. Now I just need to hope I can scrounge enough together for a PS4 before it releases. /rant

edit: wait these games have selectable sub/dub right?

    • Random Stalker

      It’s dual audio.

      • Firion Hope

        sweet, thanks!

    • Uncle Stoopnixie

I’m not suprised about ps3 not coming to the West, there’s no reason for Sony or anyone to still support the ps3 here when the ps4 is selling like hot cakes.

Only reason they did the ps3 version in japan is because the ps4 is not selling that well over there.

    • Lauracroft

atelier escha + barely sold out and is still available at different stores like VGplus. ;(

      • Firion Hope

Oh shit so it is. And they offer international shipping… might just have to grab it…

      • Satoshi Ookami

Proper voices as DLC made it impossible for many europeans to import.

    • Klaudkil

Ps4 is selling at nr1 for quit some time now

  • jamaicandj

Never played this series before i got a ps4 is this one worth picking can anyone tell me? More JRPGS to us can never be a bad thing good news!

    • dark-kyon

      Yes, is a good point.

    • Uncle Stoopnixie

It’s one of the best JRPG serie out there, theres a lot of crafting but it’s actually fun and well designed, the crafting also plays in the combat system quite nicely since your alchemist can use the large variety of items to do various things in battle.

The story is usually pretty simple but fun and interesting nonetheless because the characters are lovable.

  • kthanxyousuck

Guess I’ll jump into the series here.

    • Mar Mar

I’m jumping on the boat as well.

  • Satoshi Ookami

    So… expected, huh…? Guess I’ll go for PS4 version.
Hopefully Plus version will be coming so I can have it for Vita =D

  • IsaacGravity

Aaaaaaaand per-ordered. Shame about the Vita version though.
