In the endless derby that is
the modeling world, every new season produces two it-girls.
Three years ago Liya
Kebede and Karolina
Kurkova hit the market simultaneously. The following season it
was Erin
Wasson and Natasha
Vojnovic. After that came the double hit of Eugenia
and Natalia
and most recently the season of Louise
and Elise.
The dust is still settling on FW 02 but already one frontrunner has
claimed her niche.
Julia Stegner, a pristine eighteen year old
from Munich, Germany has exploded with such speed from the starter’s
block, she is the very definition of an instant sensation.
In only her first four months of full time fashion modeling, Julia
has gone from opening the FW 02 YSL show to logging set time for the
YSL, as well as Strenesse and Sportmax campaigns.
Add to that the wave of prime editorial bookings in Harper’s
Bazaar, Italian and American Vogue and what you have is
this season’s first It-girl. Discovered, appropriately enough
at the annual Oktoberfest, Julia is one of those undeniably beautiful,
effortlessly photogenic models with a body built for the runway that
designers and editors dream about dressing. With a pristine face that
goes from wholesome beauty to a Nastassja Kinski-like ferocity in
a split second Julia had the MDC crew dashing down to Supreme Management
for a first look. Here are the results.
