With the exciting release of Magento 2.0, Magento has adjusted their pricing structure for the Enterprise Edition in 2016. You can view the rate card below:
The new Magento 2.0 Enterprise Edition Pricing has sparked some interesting conversations. I believe that for the value provided to most merchants, Magento continues to deliver a good return on investment. Some of the features of Magento 2.0 Enterprise Edition that I like the most are:
- Visual Merchandizer tool: This saves your team some much-needed time when creating groups of products to feature and promote. This isn’t just for fashion – merchants in all verticals are using this to easily promote products, create collections for particular customer segments, and easily categorize large catalogs.
- B2B tools: Features such as “Add to cart by SKU” are critical to a B2B merchants, and Magento has promised more B2B enhancements for EE are coming soon.
- Enhanced support for multiple Admin users: Magento has always allowed unlimited Admin users in both CE and EE. However, the Enterprise Edition adds some much needed tools for larger teams. I like the ability to track admin user actions, set advanced permissions on CMS and product editing, and even restore previous versions of pages if needed.
- Built to Scale: There’s no doubt that the Magento 2.0 framework is built to scale, both CE and EE. There are some extras in Magento 2.0 Enterprise Edition that are particularly useful, such as Deferred Stock Updates to prevent possibly losing orders during peak times while your catalog is reindexing. If you want to grow quickly, Enterprise Edition can see you through those challenging periods of growth.
Both Community Edition (free) and Enterprise Edition are a great value, and a wonderful platform for your business. Smaller businesses and start-ups tend to prefer CE, though if they wish grow quickly they might consider EE now, rather than upgrading later. Each situation is unique, so I prefer to discuss it one-on-one.
