Women Profiles

One of the key features of the archives is to provide a profile for each of the women for whom we have speeches. The purpose of each profile is to give some context regarding the woman's life when the speech was given. The profiles highlight each woman's political career and provide a background of her life and additional information that might better help a researcher more thoroughly understand the remarks that were made.

Our primary source for gathering profiles is through each woman's official website; however, some profiles have been provided to us by the woman who made the speech and some were written by the staff of Carrie Chapman Catt Center from information gathered from various websites. The center makes every effort to keep the profiles up-to-date. If you notice an error, please contact us so we can make the appropriate corrections.

To search by speaker category, check the box for one or more categories, choose an option from the Match drop-down list and click Go. Any Category will return profiles belonging to any of the selected categories. All Categories will return profiles belonging to all selected categories. You may also do an alphabetic search by clicking a letter at the top of the page, or click View All to see a listing of all profiles.
