It is necessary to take along a warm jumper and/or top during this cool season as nights can be very cold, especially in the mountainous areas of Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, and Mae Hong Son. March to June are usually the hottest months and temperatures may reach 40 degrees C, with occasional refreshing rainstorms. Light cotton clothing, rain gear, and hats are strongly recommended. The wet season extends from around June to October. Despite the often heavy rain during these months, cycling at this time is fantastic as all the water courses are full and the land is a magnificent green color.
