Eccles

Eccles is sandwiched between old Salford, Irlam, Worsley and Swinton. It once provided guaranteed employment with its many mills and companies such as Gardners and the ROF works at Patricroft, now closed, but the town lives on. It is the home of the Eccles cake, aviation pioneer AV Roe and, temporarily, Friedrich Engels.
