At a time of falling attendances in Scottish football, Raith Rovers has bucked the trend with a record crowd attending the recent cup tie against Celtic. The official total attendance, including our many guests at satellite hospitality venues, is now confirmed at 7,775, revised upwards from the initial figure announced on the day. Despite the live BBC TV coverage of the match, and the Sunday lunch time kick off, this is the largest crowd Stark’s Park has seen this century (the previous record having been the 7,496 who witnessed the 3 – 0 Millenium Derby victory against local rivals Dunfermline Athletic on 3rd January 2000).
And…talking of Fife Derbies… the Pars are due to visit again next month, and we are delighted to advise that Fife Police have approved our request for pay at the gate arrangements for this fixture. In so doing, the good behaviour of both sets of fans at this season’s previous derby fixture has been taken into account. Here’s hoping for another bumper crowd that day….. and another 3-0 victory wouldn’t go amiss either!!
