Engine being flooded with gas.

I have a 1986 Bronco II with the 2.9 engine. My buddy was messing with my tps and my engine gets way to much gas now. The gas is blowing out of the exhaust and it is in the oil also. I replaced the tps but it did not fix the problem. It was running fine before the tps was messed with. If any body has any ideas just let me know please.

It's possible that a wire in the harness got shorted, causing the injectors to stay on. Start with a self test of the EEC and see if any error codes show up.

Thanks. As soon as I can get a tester I will try that. Is it possible to locate a shorted wire by tracing the harness. I was thinking it was one of the three wires coming out of the connector for the tps.

The 3 wires of the TPS are ground, reference voltage, and sensor out. You can put a voltmeter between one of the 3 and ground, and one should read +5v, another 0, and the sensor output would vary based on throttle position. Shorting those to ground would a: cause the EEC to not operate, b: do nothing, c: run weird, though I don't see it causing the injectors to flood the engine.

The other thing that helps a lot in diagnosis is a service manual that shows the electrical wiring diagrams. Check out Haynes or Chilton's manuals for your truck.
