Nqarua Caves - A middle earth experience on the Takaka Hill.

Cave Features: Millions of stalactites, fully illuminated caves, suitable for all ages to walk through, see the skeletal remains of New Zealands's extinct flightless bird, the Moa.  Cave open daily from beginning of the September schoool holidays (3rd term break) through to the beginning of winter in May. - 35 minute drive from Golden Bay.

Anatoki Salmon - Savour the fresh flavour of a Salmon catch, straight from Lake Anatoki, bordered by beautiful native bush adjoining the Anatoki River and the Kahurangi National Park, providing a tranquil environment for fishing and picknicking.  Relax with a drink on the deck or a a picnic table and soak up the atmosphere while your fish is being prepared.  If you don't want to catch your own meal, our menju offers fabulous dishes and quality wines from the region.

Wild Earth Nature Park 

Home of the Anatoki Eels.  Jet black with skin like velvet, the Anatoki Eels are one of New Zealand's oldest tourist attractions.  They've been fed in the pristine waters of the Anatoki River since 1914.  Today, Wild Earth Nature Park continue to respect and care for this unique wild population of about 50 New Zealand long-finned eels.  Some of these gentle creatures are nearly 100 years old.  Wild EarthNature Park & Cafe is open from the September school holidys through to the end of April.

Takaka Golf Club

Displaying panoramic views of Golden Bay and the mountains, it is sculpted from gorse and dunes, offering undulation holes and tricky, well-paced greens.  Its nine holes - several with alternate tee - follow the beautiful coastline and tidal estuary, providing a challenge for golfers of any ability.

Labyrinth Rocks Park

The labyrinth is a two hectare wonderland of the most amazing limestone rock formations and regenerating native bush.  The canyons provide a readymade walkway system, even a natural rock maze where several adjacent canyons are interconnected by small tunnels and archways.  You can wander along three kilometres of easy going pathways and will be absorbed for an hour (or maybe much longer!) by the ever-changing scenery.

Abel Tasman Sea Shuttle

Golden Bay - Totaranui Link.  By joining one of the four departures from Totaranui and being aware of the tides there are many options for travel in the Abel Tasman National Park.  Only schedulted boat crossing from Abel Tasman to Nelson (1st December throught to 31st March)

Abel Tasman Canyons

More than just a walk in THE PARK.  'Waterfall Creek' This is more than just canyoning.  This is the BIG, truly remote canyoning experience.  Everything about this trip is just BIG!  This trip might be the most challenging thing you'll do in New Zealand....Previous experience is required as well as a very good level of fitness.

Collingwood - Aorere Centre

Over the marble mountain, at the mouth of the Aorere River, is a quiet community with a proud heritage.  Aorere Centre, this heritage gallery presents the rich history of western Golden Bay, from early Maori arrivals to European settlement and more recent times.  Against the natural landscapes of the sea - moana and land - whenua, discover how people - tangata have shaped this district.  The local stories feature gold, pirates, shipwrecks and the tragic legacy of fires that has seen Collingwood rebuilt time and again.

Farewell Spit Eco Tours

The company has been operating on Farewell Spit for more than 60 years and has a permit from the Department of Conservation to enter the reserve.  They hold the only permit to visit the Gannet colony beyond the lighthouse and the wader feeding grounds on the inter-tidal plain.  The tours travel the length of the spit stop to climb one of the huge dunes and for refreshments at our lighthouse keeper's cottage in the shadow of the lighthouse whilst on the lighthouse reserve we have time to explore, soak up the atmosphere and see the lenses which were once in the top of the tower.  There is a pouwhenua placed by the local iwi to indicate their connection to the spit, and nearby a panel explaing some of their legends.
