MPoD is your iPhone / iPod Touch remote control for MPD (Music Player Daemon). Featuring a slick, intuitive user interface, MPoD makes it very easy to browse through your collection, and play the music you want to hear from a large collections of artists, albums and songs.
Note that MPoD is not a stand-alone application: it will only work in combination with MPD, and it doesn't play music on your iPhone. If you don't have an MPD server running in your home (which usually runs on Linux) then MPoD will not provide any value to you.
You can find details on MPD at http://www.musicpd.org.
What's New in Version 2.2
This version brings back a couple of features that many people missed:
• Cover view
• Seek in tracks
• Display track quality
• Database cache loading progress view.
Furthermore some bugs are fixed:
• Issue with cover art loading
• Outputs command in settings not working.
With the return of the resolution option and moving cover art off the main page it's now a cleaner, less cluttered look. Good work!
BUT, please, please fix the Shake feature. Even when 'None' is selected you can still clear your playlist if you toss the device onto the sofa. Very annoying.
Wonderful app for music on-the-go
I'm a devout MPD user and this iPhone client is a great way to keeping the music going no matter where I am.
Looking forward to using the newest features, but I am currently waiting for it to load up all my tracks - over 64,000 of them. Hopefully this process doesn't take too long to complete.
Some features I'd like to see: playlist creation and management, easier switching between Remote and On The Go mode (maybe just a button to toggle audio on/off), and the ability to switch seamlessly between networks (cell to wifi and vice versa).
Keep up the good work!
I recently installed the music player daemon (mpd) package on OpenBSD 5.7, and this app works perfectly as a remote control to my music library on the server.
Easy to configure, and a zero curse experience so far.
