Chamber of Commerce: 80% of Venezuelans are in poverty
For the CEO of the Chamber of Trade, Industry and Services of Caracas, Víctor Maldonado, the Venezuelan government “is playing games with people’s lives and wellbeing”
Because of the country economic crash, Venezuelans have no choice but sorting out their problems, such as rationing daily food uptake and traveling across dozen drugstores in search of medicines.
The Chief Executive Director of the Chamber of Trade, Industry and Services of Caracas, Víctor Maldonado, regretted on Friday that impoverishment in the country “is dreadful, and the worst is that this situation is not to be solved all of a sudden. No miracles are possible and this government is responsible for the crisis” that “they themselves created.”
“The government is playing games with Venezuelans’ lives and well-being. As long as the government believes that governance is just political campaign and obligatory simultaneous broadcasts, we will continue in this inertia, towards a dire crisis,” Maldonado commented on private channel Televén.
According to Maldonado, poverty has reached 80% of Venezuelans. “The solution is for the State to stop pretending to be the market,” he recommended.
