Vice Adm. Harry B. Harris Jr., commander of the U.S. 6th Fleet, introduces himself to Italian Navy Capt. Francesco Tomas, commandant of the Port of Gaeta, and his family during a holiday reception held for the local Gaeta community aboard USS Mount Whitney. The reception was hosted by Harris and Mount Whitney to highlight the rich bond the U.S. 6th Fleet Flag ship has with its homeport community. Mount Whitney, an amphibious command ship, is the U.S. 6th Fleet flagship and operates with a hybrid crew of U.S. sailors and Military Sealift Command civil service mariners.
