A New Look… and a Giveaway!

So for those of you who haven’t noticed, Girl Cooks World got a major makeover at the end of last week.  I finally made the big move over to WordPress from Blogger (yay!), which is something I’ve been wanting to do for quite awhile now.  I’m super excited with the design and logo that Lindsay from Purr came up with.  And I’m even more excited that manually indexing recipes is a thing of the past.  Hallelujah.

In order to celebrate the launch of the new site, I’m giving away one $100 Amazon gift card to thank you guys for following along.  To enter leave a comment below.  That’s it.  You don’t have to become a fan on Facebook, you don’t have to follow my pins on Pinterest, and you don’t don’t have to Tweet about this giveaway.

But I am going to use this as an opportunity to do a little market research.  In your comment  please let me know what country you’d most like me to “visit”.  One comment per person and you have until midnight Hawaii time on Wednesday, October 24th  to enter.

Back tomorrow with a new country and a new recipe!

Note: Although this giveaway is open to everybody, I’ll be giving away a gift card to Amazon.com.  If you live outside of the United States, you may only be eligible to purchase certain items and you’ll likely have to pay for shipping.

Hi Cate, I love new look of your site. My mom is from Germany and I would love to see you explore some German food. I know a few recipes from her, but she was busy trying to please her American kid’s palates and wasn’t able to focus on cooking the foods that she liked and was familiar with. Now that I am older and can appreciate it, I would like to learn some of those recipes.

Isn’t that funny how that works? All the foods I was NOT interested in eating all all when I was younger were the first recipes I asked my grandma for once I developed an interest in cooking.

Hmm…what country? I think South Africa could be interesting. Or Spain, since a friend of mine is going to school there at the moment.

What a clean, crisp and fresh design. Now that you have finished working on a new site perhaps it is time to look at creating a cookbook filled with your travels and recipes? Hint, hint. I have so many of your recipes printed out it would be so nice to have them all in a hardcover book….. Perhaps something to think about :-)

        Thanks Sherie… You’re too sweet :)

Brazil was actually the first country I cooked from… There are quite a few recipes in the archives, although I have to warn you that some of the photos aren’t the best. But I do love the shrimp stew….

    Hi Cate!

My family is all gluten free so, by association, I try to be. Which is why I LOVE your site. I’d like you to visit Greece and come back with some GF alternatives to recipes heavy on filo dough.

    Cheers

The site looks great Cate! Congrats! I recently went through a redesign myself – uuff a lot of work, I’m still on Blogger but hope to see better results.

I think England always gets a bad rap for their culinary selection, but it can truly be delicious and varied. Maybe a GF take on ‘sticky toffee pudding’ or a GF battered fish & chips?

    Thanks for hosting the giveaway!

I have a gf fish and chips recipe that I’ve been wanting to try FOREVER! And I need to actually put on paper my sticky toffee pudding recipe. Sounds like England should be on my short list :)

The new look is very clean and easy to read. I like it. My country suggestion is a challenge. I have always heard British cooking/food is terrible. I challenge you to find tasty foods and fine eats in Great Britain.

I originally discovered your webpage when it down for maintenance after a pinterest link. I was so glad when it was backup. Hoping to try some of the recipes when I get home from Delhi! I’m always looking for recipes from India, Pakistan, Nepal, and Tibet. :)

So glad you came back! That was probably the day of transition from Blogger to WordPress… So stressful! Enjoy your time in Delhi and thanks for all the South Asian suggestions… definitely all places I’m interested in.
