Against Me!'s Laura Jane Grace Announces Memoir

Laura Jane Grace, the frontwoman for Against Me!, is publishing a memoir. As Entertainment Weekly reports, Tranny: Confessions of Punk Rock's Most Infamous Anarchist Sellout will be released on November 15th via Hachette.

Grace worked with writer Dan Ozzi on the tome, which will include writing she penned when she was growing up. "The book mixes narrative about Laura's life – growing up with dysphoria and playing our generation's most influential punk band – with amazing journal entries she's been keeping since she was a kid," Ozzi told EW.

In 2012, Grace, formerly known as Tom Gabel, came out as transgender in an interview with Rolling Stone. In the candid interview, Grace opened up about her transition, family and friends' reactions and support, and what it's like to experience gender dysphoria.

"The cliché is that you're a woman trapped in a man's body, but it's not that simple. It's a feeling of detachment from your body and from yourself. And it's shitty, man. It's really fucking shitty," Grace said at the time.

Against Me!'s 2014 album, the personal Transgender Dysphoria Blues, was the first album the band released following Grace's transition. In November, Against Me! said they were working on the album's follow-up, which they hope to release this year.

"The last record was an isolating experience and a solo endeavor in a lot of ways – not to diminish anyone else's roles, but it was a really personal record," Grace told Rolling Stone. "I want this one to feel like we're all in it equally. We've been having a really good time playing with each other. We'll see what that means sonically, but that's the vibe."
