First Look at TakaraTomy Toy Hobby Market MP-08x King Grimlock!

By bwbm on Thursday, July 23, 2009

Well you guys wanted the crown. So you got it. We just got in a shot from the Dengeki Hobby magazine revealing that TakaraTomy will re-release the Masterpiece MP-08 Grimlock figure dubbed Masterpiece MP-08x King Grimlock!

The figure will come repackaged with a crown, sword, and his gun, as well as a new box.

The figure will not include the apron, necktie, tray, glasses, or transfer device.

The box image reveals King Grimlock depicted in a Generation 1 comic wearing his crown.

The figure will be available for pre-order between August 1 and September 11, 2009 and will be a Toy HobbyMarket exclusive.

King Grimlock will retail for 13,000 Yen (~$137 USD).

The figure will ship in the second half of December. Thanks to BraveMax for the translation!

Stay tuned to Tformers.com for more details as they are made available. Your best resource for all the Transformers news and community every day.

Think about it, if they didn't start off with a screw though, alot of these limited items wouldn't be on clearance 2 -3 years after the fact. The list of "limited" clutter grows more and more with each new rarity. A few years ago, this wasn't so much the case. Then again, a f... read more

For sure, my point was simply to distinguish something like this (MP-08x) from something such as an eHobby exclusive. eHobby exclusives can be nice, but are generally just over-priced. Now with something like the mail-away Henkei Strafe falls into a gray area between eHobby and MP-08x. There is ser... read more

So..., in order to get this item that TT intends to sell for roughly the same in their domestic retail market, I don't mind giving someone like TFSource their higher asking price. Like I pointed out, it's as much for the service as it is the item. Now I could have waited for someone like Bla... read more

Hey I understand busness. You also said you understand my point, so unless theres something else, I say we leave it at peace. Different outlooks, different issues. Even still, when looking at some of the cost vs content you have to admit to a strong extent we are being taken advantage of on some e... read more

I can respect that, but in this particular situation that isn't the case. Takara/Tomy set the retail price at roughly the same as the original MP Grimlock. The mark-up is coming from the resellers. And, again, I do understand. As a particular retail exclusive in Japan, none of these stores can ... read more

second time this happened today. The point is, for what they're doing and what they're charging, they should be doing better. Myself, I'd rather get another Omega and do the paintjob myself cause that just don't look good. If limited is all that it has going for it, I'm glad it... read more

Here ya go. E-hobby Omega Supreme on clearance. [url=" (link) I paid full price for mine, but I had used money from some other toys that I sold. I did, however, take advantage of such a sale and get E-hobby Black Ironhide and Green Rescue Ratchet. I'm tempted to pre-order those repain... read more

wasn't trying to be insulting, so please don't take it that way. I have respect for what I've seen in your collection. Limited or not though, this just seems way to easy for what they're charging. So for the way I collect, even concerning mainstream repaints, it's a very easy pa... read more

Maybe so. But all I really collect anymore are MPs, WSTs, and the occasional figure here and there that I like for whatever reason. I've grown really tired as far as general collecting goes. But I do really like the MPs. Do I need all 4 MP Primes and the Magnus; not at all. Do I need all 4 of t... read more

Masterpiece MP-28 Hot Rodimus is almost upon us. A new Masterpiece Hot Rod. The build up to this figure’s release has been a mix of anticipation and divided opinion. As with most new Masterpiece moulds, as a fandom we have pored over the prototype and promotional images from every angle, analysed every possible flaw and possibly already decided which side of the fence we stand on.
This morning on the ninth episode of TakaraTomy's Beast Wars anniversary video series, we've been treated to a look at the Masterpiece Optimus Primal prototype seen in color at Winter Wonderfest now in beast mode, as well as showing off its accessories and weapons in robot mode in color. The new images of the figure were shown off while Sumire Uesaka, voice of Q Transformers Arcee attempted to transform an original Beast Wars Dinobot in the inset window in the corner. We've got screencaps, so click through to have a look and find out more!
Thanks to Dengeki Hobby we've got a look at the upcoming Masterpiece Ratchet's official photography in much better resolution than the initial look we got back in November with the original reveal of the Ironhide recolor/retool. The photos show the range of option parts and accessories Ratchet will come with when released in April, plus a normal range of poseability and display type shots, including the always-present "does it fit inside MP-10?" photo. We've got the photos mirrored, so click through and take a look!
The Twitter of @tagoal has posted a round of pictures of MP-28 Hot Rodimus, currently out in Japan! The figure has an impressive level of articulation, and tagoal has managed to get it into some very well-balanced poses in this shoot. Didn't know Hot Rod was into Russian folk dances. Keep reading to see!
Straight from our forums, TMan978 has delivered us a great, detailed look at Masterpiece Hot Rod. While the official release date in Japan is still a bit off, mainland Asia seems to have little problem providing these already, so we get the benefit of a nice run through of the figure. This includes detailed comparisons with Masterpiece Rodimus Prime and a whole array of other size comparisons plus a breakdown of transformation and more. We have it embedded below, so click through to check it out!
