Iraqi Weightlifter Expelled From Asian Games for Doping

Incheon: The Olympic Council of Asia says an Iraqi weightlifter has been expelled from the Asian Games in the fourth doping case at Incheon. (Day 12 Blog | Medal Tally)

The OCA on Wednesday said a sample taken from Mohammed Jasim Abood al Alfuri on September 14, before the games began, was found to contain etiocholanolone and androsterone. Al Alfuri did not win a medal and it wasn't clear whether he was still in Incheon. (Read: MC Mary Kom Wins Historic Gold in Boxing)

Al Alfuri was disqualified and the test findings forwarded to the Iraqi sports authorities, the Asian and international weightlifting federations, and the World Anti-Doping Agency for further action such as a potential ban. (Read: Sarita Devi Refuses to Wear Bronze Medal, Weeps on Podium)

Among the other three kicked out of the games for doping violations was Tai Cheau Xuen, who returned a positive test after winning a wushu gold medal for Malaysia.
