Growth type foliose.
Photos: On twigs, branches and rock. County Cork, SW Ireland.

Bluish-grey to light-grey orbicular thallus, incised, ascending lobes. Undulating margins with powdery soralia and black cilia. Apothecia rare. Underside black with rhizines at centre, tan-colored and bare at margins. (P. reticulatum has rhizines extending to margins.)

Common throughout Ireland on trees, bushes and +/- acidic rocks.
Medulla and soralia: K+ orange-yellow, KC+ orange, P+ orange, UV-
